Oberweis Ice Cream and Dairy Store

Good ice cream. Could use a good cleaning. We are from Ohio and have several family members in the Chicago area. We were introduced to Oberweis over 30 years ago and make it a point to visit when in the area for chocolate malts and sundaes-love their fresh tasting ice cream. We’ve always gone to the store on Ogden but were closer to this store on this visit. Two young ladies were working and were friendly and efficient with our order. However, the location was not kept up clean-wise. Every table had some remnant of ice cream on it and the floor, waffle cone case and windows could certainly use a cleaning. I asked the one young lady for a rag to wash off a table. She asked me which one and I pointed to one but mentioned they all had something on them. She did wipe them all off, but it was evident this wasn’t a top priority. I’ve never operated an ice cream parlor and assume every guest drips or drops something, so not easy to keep clean. Just seems like it should be more of a priority at this location.

All they served was a large scoop of frustration. After patiently waiting for 25 minutes as they continuously filled orders placed after was, I called over one of the 3 workers, they finally brought us ice cream that was not what we ordered. Also there wasn't a smile on any employee's fases during the whole time we were there. If they're not happy about working then they should stay home. We keep increasing minimum wage and getting worse employees than ever. No pride, no appreciation, no social skills.

They were out of soft serve and frostbites. They didn’t have any cones left. It was 6:30 but on a summer night when demand is high. Got M&M toppings and it was just dust. M&M shell dust mixed in with some M&Ms. The hot fudge was all in the bottom too. Had to dig to find it. Hot fudge is a topping, that goes on top. The sun was at an angle where every seat was blasted with the sun’s rays. Went to draw down the blinds and all of the blinds on the seating side are missing. Management needs to do a better job with this store. For the price we paid this was a huge disappointment. Should have saved our money and just gone to Culver’s for a family ice cream night.

Attached is a picture of the $28.00 ( on its own , would have been 16 without delivery, still overpriced and wrong order ) peanut butter “waffle bowl” I was delivered tonight.

I would like to leave a positive comment about the employee working today, March 1, 2026, at the Oberweis location at 760 N Route 59, Suite 120 in Naperville. The young man working today is doing an excellent job. He is very kind, professional, and attentive to customers. He is handling everything on his own — taking orders, processing payments, and preparing the ice cream — and he is doing it with a great attitude. However, I do feel concerned that he is working completely alone. There are more than 20 customers in the store, and he has no assistance. It seems unfair for one person to manage everything in such a busy location. As a customer, I truly appreciate his hard work, but I hope the company considers providing additional support during busy hours. He deserves help. Thank you.
